1. WHAT:
Golden Chick continues to build on its successful 2025 growth with the opening of its second Walmart restaurant in the DFW area. Located in Lewisville at 190 E. Round Grove Road at I-35E and Hebron/Round Grove Road, the location is designed to give guests a convenient and delicious way to grab a meal, whether shopping while hungry or ordering to-go.
The new restaurant is owned and operated by father and son-in-law duo, Rafat Handawy and Jonathon Benitez, and is the fourth Walmart location to open in Golden Chick’s history. Golden Chick recently initiated its partnership with Walmart in October 2024 with a restaurant in Midland, followed by new locations in Mesquite and Lubbock. Contrasting the chicken concept’s typical stand-alone prototypes, the Walmart venues provide an opportunity for the brand to grow its physical presence along with its third-party delivery benefits.
“Our relationship with Walmart is still new, but we’ve seen great success with the first few locations we’ve opened,” said Brian Loescher, president of Golden Chick Franchising. “We have a well-established presence in the Dallas-Fort Worth area already, so we’re excited to bring the community something different in the form of this Walmart restaurant. Unlike other Walmart restaurant partner brands, Golden Chick offers our full menu from freshly baked yeast rolls to Golden Tenders®, fried chicken, Wicked Wings and catfish. We’ll still have all the same delicious Golden Chick favorites on the menu!”
Along with this being the latest Walmart opening for Golden Chick, it officially marks the 105th restaurant in the DFW Metroplex, along with an opening in Decatur next week as the brand continues to strengthen its presence using a concentric growth strategy, growing within well-established markets and beyond.
Guests are welcome to stop by the new Golden Chick location starting today to enjoy delicious classics, including perfectly crispy Golden Tenders® as well as more unique offerings, including its juicy, hand-seasoned Golden Roast Chicken. Now through May 11, guests can also enjoy Golden Chick’s Lenten Seafood offerings, including fan-favorite Butterfly Shrimp, now available coated with spicy Lotta Zing® seasoning for a Wicked take on the limited-time dish. The Butterfly Shrimp can be enjoyed either on its own or with Golden Chick’s hand-breaded U.S. farm-raised catfish in combos including a 6-Piece Shrimp Combo for $8.99, 10-Piece Shrimp Combo for $11.99 or a Catfish & Shrimp Combo for $12.99, all including a Southern-style side, fresh-baked Yeast roll, cocktail sauce and 30-ounce drink. Guests can also add Wicked or regular Butterfly Shrimp to their order for $2.59 for three pieces or 20 pieces for $14.99.
